Scope: Samye Ling is a monastery and international centre of Buddhist training, known for the authenticity of its teachings and tradition. It offers instruction in Buddhist philosophy and meditation within the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. It is also a centre for the preservation of Tibetan religion, culture, medicine, art, architecture and handicrafts.
The construction of the temple and other associated buildings commenced in 1967. The building works have largely been carried out by volunteers, with only major substructure and superstructure being by Contractors; all of the internal fir and specialist Tibetan decorations have been carried out by volunteers.
Love Jenkins Associates were providing Quantity Surveying duties for provision of construction of a residential block and communal hall on the north of the island for use as a centre for World Peace and Health.
